I'm officially a SF city-goer because I bought my monthly MUNI pass that costs half as much as the monthly metrocard. I haven't yet figured out which transit system is better. So far the downfalls of MUNI are:
1. I still don't get it
2. The train/buses are only 2-4 cars long so people really pack-em in.
3. It's hard to figure out how to pay and buy a pass.
4. I haven't even thought about learning BART
I did see a few people with their dogs on MUNI -- big dogs too.
Yesterday evening I took myself out for a cocktail to a happy hour at Oola. It's right here in SOMA (Where I am staying this week.) Of course I made friends with the bartender and he had an interesting insight about the difference between NYC and SF:
SF cuisine is ingredient-driven and NYC cuisine is technique-driven.
**Even though I am in a new city and have no clue, people continue to ask me for directions here. Yesterday a woman asked me where there was a bookstore as I was staring at my google map; today a woman asked me where Anthropology was as I was literally turning in circles looking for the cable car to buy my MUNI Monthly. It's so strange.

So glad you're exploring one of my favorite cities! When I was there in August, we were lost aimlessly walking around and a group of older women asked us for directions also!
So funny Gogga! It happens everywhere !!
